Experimental Builds
Special builds of Cantabile that contain new fixes, improvements and changes that may cause stability problems.
The purpose of the experimental builds are:
- To ensure that a new feature sufficiently solves a problem
- To ensure a better level of testing before rolling changes into the official build
Please note the following about the experimental builds:
- They are more likely to contain bugs that may cause stability problems.
- They will usually be labeled with the same build number as the currently released version.
- They will usually have had very little testing done.
- They don't include an setup program - just a zip of the executable that should copied over the installed version. You can also run the executable from a different folder however file association won't necessarily use that version (unless you go into Options -> General and click the Associate button).
- After an official build, the experimental builds may actually be one version behind the official build.
- There are no release notes associated with the experimental builds, though usually the Cantabile Development Blog will contain details on what's changed.
- if an experimental build does cause you trouble, you can always just download the official build and reinstall.
- A new or changed feature in an experimental build may never end up in an official build.
So, at your own risk, here they are:
Please report all faults, or if a new feature sufficiently solves a problem please let us know.
