Undo / Redo

As hinted to in my previous post, I've decided to add undo and redo support to Cantabile.

Unlike, some applications it doesn't make sense for Cantabile to store every user adjustable setting in the undo buffer. For example being able to undo a change to a slider would be overkill. For the moment I've decided to just support undo and redo of inserting, deleting and moving racks and plugins.

The other thing I needed to be careful of was to not use up too much memory for the undo buffer. Some plugins can be quite large in their saved state (I've seen 20Mb fxp files) so the undo buffer is limited to 4Mb - with a registry setting to change it if need be.

There is a thing I donÂ’t understood. This new version will be able to play wave file? Because I found very very useful the audio recorder in the actual version and I feel always as mayor lack the absence of a wave file player. More this function could be very usefully if the player is perfectly synchronized with metronome, midi sequencer and transport bar. Practically with this feature Cantabile become a masterpiece for live performance. In fact we can load every songs with quick session system via a program change without remove hands from keyboards, we can start a song with a base prerecorded in wave file format and just play live VST instrument and external synthesizer. I tested this possibility along last two years with others host without all this possibilities tied together in situation partial similar to that but was something of extremely interesting.

Cheers,
